The Power of PRP/PRF
PRP and more recently, PRF, have gained immense popularity in recent years due to their natural and effective role in medical esthetics and skin rejuvenation. These treatments involve using your body's own platelets and growth factors found in your blood to stimulate collagen production, repair damaged skin cells, and improve overall skin texture. By harnessing the power of your own biology, PRP and PRF provide numerous benefits for achieving a youthful appearance.
Benefits of PRP and PRF
1. Skin Rejuvenation: PRP and PRF help stimulate collagen production, resulting in improved skin texture, tightened pores, and reduced fine lines and wrinkles.
2. Restoration of Volume and Tone: PRP and PRF can restore volume lost due to aging or other factors, giving the skin a more youthful and plumped appearance.
3. Reduction in Pigmentation and Scarring: PRP and PRF can help minimize the appearance of pigmentation issues, such as sunspots and acne scars, leaving you with a more even complexion.
The Vampire Facial Procedure
The procedure got its cute name from the fact that the procedure involves drawing blood from the patient.
First, we review your goals and discuss what you can expect from the procedure. We also make sure you are a good candidate. Next, your skin is numbed with a numbing cream to ensure minimal discomfort. This stays on for about 15-30 minutes.
Then we draw a small amount of blood from your arm. This blood will then go through a centrifugation process to separate the platelet-rich plasma or fibrin from the rest of the blood. Microneedling, a process that uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries, will then be performed to prepare the skin for the PRP/PRF application. These injuries open micro-holes in the skin, and trigger the process of skin healing, which is what we want! Once the microneedling is complete, the platelet-rich plasma or fibrin will be applied to your skin. These growth factors are gently massaged onto the treated area, allowing them to penetrate deep into the skin and stimulate collagen production during healing.
What to Expect
Mild redness, slight swelling, and pinpoint bleeding may occur immediately after the treatment but typically subside within a day or two. Many patients report noticeable improvements within weeks, with optimal results becoming apparent over the following months as collagen regeneration takes place.
