Facial Trauma
Facial trauma is sustained in many different ways. It can occur from falls, bicycle accidents, car accidents, and assaults.
There are also many ways that facial trauma can affect the face. It can affect function of a particular part of the face (such as the jaws and how the teeth come together), it can affect esthetics (if the cheekbone is displaced causing the face to look crooked), or it can affect both function and esthetics.
Management of these fractures depends on the severity and location. Some traumatic injuries can require multiple procedures to repair, and some injuries require no treatment at all. Fortunately, the face heals extremely well, due to its rich blood supply.
